Honeymoon Days 4, 5 and 6.

Our last three days at the resort were very similar to the first two.  We spent our time at the beach and pool. When we weren't there we could be found hitting the restaurants.  We had such a great time relaxing and enjoying the the beautiful island of St. Maarten.  I'm sure it will not be our last visit.

Honeymoon Day 3

Wow I am so behind on honeymoon posts.  It feels like its been forever since our time on the island.  On our third day we decided to take a taxi to the other side of the island to do some exploring.  Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch side.  It is also where the cruise ship port is.  It is famous for amazing shopping and considered to be the touristy part of St. Maarten.

We spent most of the morning shopping at taking in the beautiful scenery.

Part of our all inclusive package granted us access to our resort's sister location in Philipsburg.  The resort here reminded me more of a college spring break location.  It was cool to visit but we were very happy that we chose to stay on the quieter side.  We enjoyed lunch at the resorts buffet before heading back to our place.

After some beach time at our resort we attend a special beach bbq for all the guests.  There was plenty of food and games for everyone.

Charleston: Labor Day Weekend

Today I'm back on the blogging train after Kev and I spent a lovely three day weekend in Charleston.
We left early Saturday morning and made it to Charleston around lunch time.  Our first stop was Poogan's Porch.  I had heard that Poogan's was a must eat spot in the city so I knew we couldn't miss out.  For brunch there was a 45 minute wait but the hostess took our phone number and told us we could hit the shops on King st and we would receive a text when our table was ready.

Shopping on King St. is amazing!  I swear the nicest H&M and Forever 21 I have ever been in.
After 45 minutes we were back at the restaurant and ready for brunch.

I got the cinnamon french toast (pictured below) and Kev got the chicken and waffles.  Both were so good!

Kev even found a Brett Favre autographed menu.  He was in heaven.

After lunch we wandered around downtown checking out shops and stopping by the waterfront park for some selfies.

After checking into our hotel we headed to Charleston staple Wet Willies for a snack before our ghost tour.

We purchased a ghost tour through groupon and got an awesome deal.  Our tour group consisted of us and 4 other couples and our tour guide was very knowledgeable.  He was born and raised in Charleston and had been a tour guide for the past 19 years.  The walk was full of history and ghost stories.  Kev and I loved it.

After the tour we had a late dinner at Tommy Condons Irish Pub.  The restaurant had a nice patio and we enjoyed catching up on some football.  I got the fish and chips and Kev got the fired green tomato blt.

Sunday morning we got up early and headed to Folly Beach.

After a few hours we were ready for lunch and we opted for Taco Boy.

Post lunch we went to the beach shops and took a walk on the pier.

That night we headed back into the city for dinner.  We decided on Toast a spot famous for it's southern cooking.  We go the sweet tea fried chicken and the shrimp scampi. Both were hits.

After dinner there was more walking...our attempt at making room for dessert.

Our final stop was Belgian Gelato.  A perfect way to end our last night of a wonder vacation.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

5 Charleston Favorites

For my 5 things this Friday I decided to go with a theme.  Kev and are  heading to Charleston for the weekend and I could not be more excited!  Both Kev and I have only been once before.  You can read about that trip here.  After our first visit we knew we were going to have to go back!  Today I'm sharing the five things I'm looking most forward to doing on this vacay.

1.  Eating:  It is no secret Charleston is a mecca for fine southern foods.  I have been reading many fellow bloggers recommendations for must eat places in downtown and I've got my list to three.  Being Labor Day weekend I know places will be crowded so I'm hoping to hit at least two.  I was able to score brunch reservations at one so things are looking good.  My three top picks are Poogan's Porch, Toast and Magnolias.

2.  Exploring:  Disclaimer:  I am a huge history nerd so Charleston is right up my ally.  I love wondering around the historic district looking at the beautiful buildings and hearing historical stories.  For this trip I purchased a groupon for an evening ghost tour.  I can't wait to hear some scary stories :-)

3.  Beach Time:  Charleston is a bay surrounded by 5 beautiful beaches.  Kev and I decided to spend one of our days on Folly Beach.  This will be our first time visiting it but it looks pretty cute.  It looks like there are plenty of good lunch spots there....were always centered on food!

4.  Rooftop Lounges:  I am a sucker for rooftops!  I love looking over the cities and enjoying fresh air.  Two Charleston hot spots I'd like to visit are The Rooftop at Vendue and The Market Pavillon Rooftop.

5.  Shopping:  It wouldn't be a vacy without a little shopping.  One of may favorite places we visited on our last trip was the open air market.  I can't wait to pick up a few gifts...is it to early to start Christmas shopping  ;-)

After returning from Charleston on Monday I will be heading to Myrtle Beach,  SC with my parents for the rest of the week.  Cheers to vacations!

Happy Labor Day Weekend
