A Christmas/ Weekend Recap

Hello my dears!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a fabulous Christmas last week!  I can't believe NYE is tomorrow and my vacation from work is over.  It has truly been a great 10 day but I am starting to miss my work friends so it will be nice to catch up tomorrow.

I've been meaning to recap my Christmas but I have been busy/lazy the past few days so I decided to group it in with my weekend for a Mega-recap :-)

Kev and I spent Christmas Eve with my family.  Every year my Grandparents on my mom's side have a big gathering with all my aunts and uncles.  It was good to see everyone and catch up.

For Christmas Day lunch my family headed to my Grandparents on my dad's side.  There we had a full Christmas feast!

After that it was off to meet Kev and spend Christmas afternoon with his parents.  I swear they had baked hundreds of Christmas cookies.

In between all the food and family time there was also some present exchanging.  Here are some of my favorites from this year.

I was excited to see that my mom stuffed my stocking full of new makeup to try.  I'm definitely going to have to try all this out and write a review post.  I'm probably most excited for the Benefit Cosmetics kit.

Kev loves to pull out surprises on Christmas.  He really got me this year with these earrings. One day I was Pinteresting (all great stories should start this way) and I ran across earrings that looked like this.  I pointed them out to him and said that these are the type of earrings I wanted to wear on our wedding day.  Of course there was no indication of where to buy them but Kev hunted down some that looked identical.

Also loved these Tori Burch Earrings he got!

And finally one of my favorite gifts was a new Cam Newton jersey.  I assume you all know that the Panthers are officially the number 2 seed in the NFL and will host their first playoff game at home one the 11th.  I'm hoping to score tickets and rock this baby at the game.  If not there, definitely on my sofa!

Thursday my friend Sara and I headed to Charlotte.  She was in from Myrtle Beach and we were in desperate need of a girls day!  We spent the afternoon sipping holiday drinks at the Starbucks on Tyron St and had a lovely dinner at Vapianos.  I was so glad that they still had their decorations up.

That night we had tickets to the Charlotte Comedy Zone to see a few comedians from MTV's Girl Code.  We are both fans of the show and I made sure to get us tickets front and center.  If you've ever been to a comedy show you know they often pick on audience members up front and this was no exception.  2 of the comedians called me out and I loved every minute of it.  Jessimae even told me she loved my southern accent....Made my day!

Friday was a me day until Kev got off work.  I spent much of my time watching way to many hours of Sex in the City....

 and reading my book!

Saturday was equally as lazy minus a trip to the Red Lobster with Kev and Sunday was a day full of football.  Once again Go Panthers...I can't say that enough!

Also I'm excited to be joining in with Lisa from Showered With Design for this weekend recap.

Happy Monday Ladies!

Cheers to a New Year: October, November and December

I'd like to start off by saying I hope everyone had a fabulous Chriatmas yesterday!  Mine was spent surrounded by so many loved ones.  I could not have asked for a better holiday.

Today I'm linking up for the final Cheers to a New Year post with all the lovely hosts.  Thank you guys for hosting such a fun linkup!  I've really enjoyed reading your posts and reflecting on the past year of my life.  For this last post we are doing October, November and December.

October

So October 1st was an exciting day in my life...It was the day Southern Class, Carolina Sass went live!  After years of reading others' blogs I finally started my own with my first post being 30 Before 30.

The first weekend of the month was The Womens Only 5K.  This is a yearly event held in Greensboro.  All proceds go to providing mamograms for women who can't afford them.

Mid-month Kev and I went to see the Panthers play the Rams.  My cats won and incase you haven't noticed we are currently the #2 seed in the NFL.  Who would have guessed?!

This year instead of going out we had our own Halloween party.  It's gonna become a yearly tradition.

November

Towards the beginning of November Britt and I saw Hunter Hayes in Concert.

Mid-month Kev and I went to Green Bay, Wi to see the Green Bay Packers play.  (Trip Recap Here)

December

I swear Decmeber felt like the fastest month of the year!  It started and then boom it's almost over!  Here are some of my favorite holiday pictures from this month.

Christmas Times A Comin'

So it's the night before Christmas Eve or as I have been calling today, the Eve of Christmas Eve.  This past weekend really flew by!  Normally I would complain about this but as I mentioned in my 5 on Friday I am off all this week, and next Monday.  I return to work on New Year's Eve but luckily we close at 3 for the holiday and remain closed that Wednesday.  So basically in this week and a half period I only work 7 hours and I am so excited!  It's like a full blown adult Christmas Vacation.

Friday kicked off with our Ugly Christmas Sweater Party!  Sadly I only took a few pics because I was slightly overwhelmed by the number of people who showed up for our festivities.  Usually I am an over preparer for everything in life.  I mean I'm that person who has a bag of generic gifts in case I forget a Birthday and a pack of assorted greeting cards in my car...but when I wasn't sure how many people were actually coming to our party I only made 1 batch of cookies and 1 pack of cinnamon rolls.  Should have listened to my over preparer instinct because there were about 10 extra people there...So food was in short supply...I would have pics of that too but it was consumed in a matter of minutes.  Lesson Learned:  When it seems like no one is coming, everyone is coming plus some...Have plenty of baked goods!

Kev started Saturday off by declaring Courtney Day!  If you are not familiar with this holiday it is a special day when Courtney (myself) is spoiled.  I'm always up for a Courtney Day.  For my C-day event I chose to see Anchor Man 2.  Kev also gave me a free pass to get as many overpriced concession stand items as my heart desired.  I loaded up on popcorn, cookie dough bites and a giant cheery coke which the worker swore was a small.

Anchor Man was epic!  If you haven't seen it yet stop what your doing and GO!

Well actually since you are reading my blog finish that then go :-)

That night we has a Christmas celebration with Kev's aunt and uncle.  We spent the evening eating, catching up and exchanging presents.

Sunday was super lazy.  My friend Sara is in town so we caught up over lunch and I spent the rest of the day getting ready for Christmas with my parents.

That night I watched the Brittany Spears special on E! and now I'm even more excited to see her Vegas show.  I'm already scheming on a trip to see her there next Fall.  Pretty Please Kev!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve tomorrow!

5 on Friday: Christmas Edition

Happy Friday ladies!
Once again I'm linking up for 5 on Friday and this week it is a Christmas Edition!

{One}  So I am extremely excited that this will be my last full day at work until the New Year.  I really shocked myself by actually having vacation time left.  Usually I go through it in the warm weather months but I am looking forward to some R & R next week!

{Two}  Tonight Kev and I are having some friends over for a little ugly Christmas Sweater Party.  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.  I'm even wearing my sweater to work today. So far no one has questioned it.

{Three}  This year our company chose 5 kids for our angel tree project.  If  I haven't told you before I work in marketing for a credit union chain here in NC.  The five children we choose came from two of our member's families.  All five of these kids have faced more in their life than I could ever imagine and we were all excited to help out.  Not only do employees donate but our credit union members also pitch in.  So often I hear people saying how bad people are and that everyone is only out for themselves but I could not disagree more with this statement.  I was absolutely amazed by the outpouring of love and support we saw from our credit union community for these two families.  I'm so happy to see that these 5 children will have an amazing Christmas.

{Four}  This week I finally got a chance to watch some of my favorite Christmas Movies

Which ones are your favorites?

{Five}  You've probably already seen this viral video a million times this week but in case you want to watch it again may I present Christmas Jammies!   :-)

Merry Christmas Y'all

Cheers to a New Year: July, August and September

It's that time again for the Cheers to a New Year link up with Lauren from Peach State of Mind and all the other lovely co-hosts.  This week we are focusing on July, August and September. Here's some of my favorite memories from these months.

July

July kicked off with me and Britt going to see Luke Bryan, Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line in Charlotte.  The concert was awesome!  This was my second time seeing Luke and he does not disappoint.

Also in July Kev bought a boat.  Ever since I met Kev he has been dreaming of owning a boat.  After years of saving up extra money this beauty is finally in our garage.

August

The first weekend in August Kev and I went with our friends Brittany and Kory to the National Whitewater Rafting Center in Charlotte.  There we got to raft, ride zip lines and kayak on the Yadkin river.  This will definitely be a yearly trip from now on!

The next weekend Lauren and I headed down to Holden Beach, NC.  A family friend of hers has a place there and lets us use it when we want to visit.  We went several times during college so it was nice to go back and reminisce.

At the end of August my friend Sara and I went on the best girls trip in the existence of our 15 year friendship.  This was both of our first trips to NYC and we spent a glorious 5 days exploring the city.  (You can see a recap of my trip here.)

 September

September was a month full or country concerts.  First Kev and I saw Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeron in Greensboro.

That same week  Parlamee played a free show at our local fair.

And the following week our local radio station hosted the best concert ever!  For $10 we got to see Cassadee Pope, Charlie Worsham, Thomas Rhett, Gloriana and Little Big Town.  I'm still shocked this happened!

That's all for this week!  Check back next Thursday for our final recap!
