5 Charleston Favorites

For my 5 things this Friday I decided to go with a theme.  Kev and are  heading to Charleston for the weekend and I could not be more excited!  Both Kev and I have only been once before.  You can read about that trip here.  After our first visit we knew we were going to have to go back!  Today I'm sharing the five things I'm looking most forward to doing on this vacay.

1.  Eating:  It is no secret Charleston is a mecca for fine southern foods.  I have been reading many fellow bloggers recommendations for must eat places in downtown and I've got my list to three.  Being Labor Day weekend I know places will be crowded so I'm hoping to hit at least two.  I was able to score brunch reservations at one so things are looking good.  My three top picks are Poogan's Porch, Toast and Magnolias.

2.  Exploring:  Disclaimer:  I am a huge history nerd so Charleston is right up my ally.  I love wondering around the historic district looking at the beautiful buildings and hearing historical stories.  For this trip I purchased a groupon for an evening ghost tour.  I can't wait to hear some scary stories :-)

3.  Beach Time:  Charleston is a bay surrounded by 5 beautiful beaches.  Kev and I decided to spend one of our days on Folly Beach.  This will be our first time visiting it but it looks pretty cute.  It looks like there are plenty of good lunch spots there....were always centered on food!

4.  Rooftop Lounges:  I am a sucker for rooftops!  I love looking over the cities and enjoying fresh air.  Two Charleston hot spots I'd like to visit are The Rooftop at Vendue and The Market Pavillon Rooftop.

5.  Shopping:  It wouldn't be a vacy without a little shopping.  One of may favorite places we visited on our last trip was the open air market.  I can't wait to pick up a few gifts...is it to early to start Christmas shopping  ;-)

After returning from Charleston on Monday I will be heading to Myrtle Beach,  SC with my parents for the rest of the week.  Cheers to vacations!

Happy Labor Day Weekend

9 Things I've Been Doing Other Than Blogging

With my favorite season coming to a close my blog posts have been a little on the scarce side. Today I thought I'd give you a little glance at 9 things I've been doing other than blogging.

1.  Working
As of late my full time job has been keeping me extremely busy and I love that!  It's always good for business when your busy so I couldn't be happier about it.
2.  Enjoying the Great Outdoors
Kev and I have been enjoying the warm weather by taking walks in the evening.  We even rented canoes last weekend at the lake.
3.  Planning Travel
It's no secret around here that travel is my favorite thing!  Recently I've been busy plotting our labor day trip to Charleston and our upcoming family trip to Myrtle Beach.
4.  Watching Football
With the Panthers back on tv and fantasy football just around the corner I've been soaking up the preseason of my favorite sport.
5. Scandal
Along the tv lines I've recently jumped on the Scandal train and their is no looking back.  I'm trying to get caught up before season 4 starts next month.
6.  Going to Concerts
Another of my favorite past times. In the past couple of weeks I've been to a couple of outdoor events and I've got several others in the works.
8.  Going to the Movies
I am so lucky that in my town we have a magical place called the $1.50 theater.  Here you can find movies  that have been out for a couple of months with tickets for only $1.50.  This weeks highlights are Think Like a Man Too, X-Men, Transformers and Maleficent.
9.  Decorating
Being newlyweds we are still getting our house together.  The past few weekends we have really been hitting it hard.

What have you been up to lately?

Vox Box: Aveeno Positively Radiant

After hearing several other bloggers talk about their love for Influenster I decided to give it a try.  Within my first couple of weeks I was accepted into the Aveeno Positively Radiant Vox Box program.

In my box I received Aveeno Positively Radiant Targeted Tone Corrector.  Over the years I have battled an uneven skin tone with countless types of concealer so I was extremely excited to try this product out.

I used the product daily for a month.  Applying it after washing my face at night.  After a few days I could feel my skin getting a lot smoother.  By the end of the month I could see a noticeable difference in the redness on my skin.  My tone looked more even and my dark spots were almost gone.

I was very pleased with this product and look forward to trying more from the Positively Radiant line.

Oh Hey Friday!

Once again we've made it to one of my favorite days of the week!
Today I linking up with Karli to share my five favorite things of the week.

1.  Last night I went to see The Script and One Republic in Charlotte with my friend Sara.  To say both bands blew my mind would be an understatement.  Check back next week for a full post of the concert.

2.  The weather is looking absolutely perfect this weekend so Kev and I will be heading with friends to downtown Greensboro for an outdoor concert and street festival tomorrow night!

3.  Every since I saw the preview for One Hundred Foot Journey I have been excited to see it.  Fingers crossed I can talk Kev into going in the next few days :-)

4.  Have you guys been watching PLL?!  Was this weeks episode not crazy.  I can't wait to see what the season finale brings!

5.  Last but not least I'm sharing my song obsession for the week!  I've gotta support a fellow North Carolinian!

Honeymoon Day 2

We woke up Tuesday morning and headed to breakfast.  The resort literally had everything you could think of!

After breakfast we stopped to take a few photos before hitting the beach.

We spent most of our second day lounging on the beach and laying by the pool.

The St. Maarten Maho Beach Resort is famous for being right beside the island's airport.  Thrill seekers can stand on the beach while plans littler land over their head.  At first I was a little nervous staying so close to this tourist hot spot but it really gave us no trouble.  We loved watching the planes take off everyday.

That night we decided to go to the formal dining restaurant. Our waiter here was wonderful. He took care of everything and we enjoyed having a romantic dinner.

We each started off with an appetizer.

For my main course I got some kind of chicken....I know I'm a bad blogger but it's two months later and I have no idea what it's called :-)

Kev went with the red fish.

For dessert I had tiramisu and Kev got cheesecake

After dinner we visited the casino.  We played a couple of slots but decided to head in before too late to get ready to explore the island the next day.

Oh Hey Friday!

Today I winding down another week of posts by linking up with Karli for another Oh Hey Friday.

{one} I was perusing Netflix the other day to find my newest addiction.  I came across Scandal and remembered hearing that it was really good.  One episode and I was hooked!

{two}  I got up the nerve to share my first Vlog in my post on Wednesday.  Disclaimer:  I am reviewing One Direction's new makeup kit for Macy's.  Normally I don't keep up too much with the boy banders but I really had a fun time with the product!

{three}  Kev and I are pretty excited about the Ninja Turtle movie hitting theaters this weekend.  I have a feeling we will hit a matinee. Kev has been a fan for quite sometime.  Throwback to him on Halloween 1994.

{four}  I finally finished reading Gone Girl (amazing) and now it's time to pick another book.  After hearing so many of you rave about #GirlBoss I think that's what I'm going to go with.  Barnes and Noble here I come!

{five}  Kev and I went to the Vans Outlet last weekend.  The outlet is always running a bogo deal on top of their normal sales prices.  Since Kev got a pair I couldn't refuse half off!  True life I'm a Vans addict!

Happy Friday!!

Lekker Bikes USA Launch Party

This past Friday I got the opportunity to attend Lekker Bikes USA Dine and Drinks Reception.  This event was part of their First 24 Hours in Greensboro celebration.

Lekker Bikes has been a prominent Dutch brand since 1885 and over the years has gained international recognition for it's fashionable and functional style.

Lekker's Greensboro office will be the first location in the US giving us a lot to celebrate Friday night.

Originally we were going to test the bike outside but torrential rain kept us indoors.  Even with the rain I still got the chance to check the bike out up close.
One of my favorite features about the bike is its' low step through which is accommodating for dresses and skirts.  Another fashion friendly feature is the built in chain guard that prevents mud and dirt from being kicked up on your clothing.
And lets be real ladies.  How adorable is that basket?

Each bike is custom made and can be tailored to your style and biking needs,
Be on the lookout for Lekker as  Elle MagazineWho, What, Wear and Style.com named it as the must have fashion accessory of 2014!

Lekker Bikes are available exclusively online at us.lekkerbikes.com or at the Greensboro, NC warehouse.  You can also check Lekker Bikes out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Another bonus of the night was that I got the chance to meet three other Greensboro bloggers.

My First Vlog

So I'm swithching up my plans for today.  Origionally I was planning on recaping my first blogger event but my body had other plans.  Monday I was hit with some sort of 48 hour bug and I'm now finally starting to get back to normal.  I have to say a big thank you to my wonderful husband for taking care of me.

Since my origional post isn't quite ready I decided to share another blogging first today.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Brand Backer to review One Direction's new makeup line before it hits Macy's on August 11th.  I've actually been a little nervous about jumping into the youtube blogging market but it wasn't quite as nerveracking as I thought.  So without further delay here is my first video.

These products were provided to me by Brand Backer for testing purposes.  All opinions are my own.

St. Maarten Honeymoon: Day 1

Not gonna lie I've definitly been behind on my honeymoon posts.  I think that a big part of me hates to admit that it has already come and gone!

The Monday after our wedding Kev and I left for 6 beautiful days in St. Maarten.
We booked our honeymoon about 6 months before through Expedia.  Our resort was Sonesta Maho Beach.  We took a direct flight Charlotte and made it to the island in 3.5 hours.

The island is a beautiful 21 sq miles of perfect beaches.  Our hotel was only a 5 minute ride from the airport and we were soon greated by hotel staff who came bearing cold towels and drinks.

We checked onto our room which had a lovely island view.

After getting settled and changing we headed to the beach for an up close look of the water.

Our resort was all inclusive which ended up being the best decision we could ever make.  It was so nice not to have to carry cash.  We settleed on one of the lunch spots where we feasted on quesadillas.

Next, we headed for the beach!

For dinner we hit the buffet which had a mexican theme for the night.

After that it was time to get some rest ad gear up for the rest of the week!
