Tales From the Crypt

So remember Monday when I declared I was going to be back here blogging more...Well that lasted like a day and half.... It all started Tuesday afternoon at work.  I was sitting at my desk watching the  snow fall when I took a sip of my water...and ouch...my throat started hurting out of no where.

2pm:  I'm not sick!!!

After a couple hours of snow fall we decided to close up shop early and head home before roads got any worse.

5pm:  Am I having chills?!  I can't be sick....I better check my temperature...98...ok I'm totally fine.

6pm:  Why is my head so sore?!...Takes temperature again....WHAT?!?!?!? 103!!!!

So there you have it blog friends after hours of denial I was ready to admit it....I was sick!

ADMITTANCE is the first step in the road to recovery.

All my symptoms pointed to strep throat and after conferring with my doctor it was found to be the culprit.
That night I went to bed at 9 and slept till 10 the next day but when I woke up I was still tired.  I don't know how this was even possible.  If I haven't mentioned this before I am still living with my parents until Kev and I get married in May and it's times like this that I could not be more grateful for them.  Let's face it no one takes better care of you when your sick than your mom!  So shout out to my Momma!

Upon making it out of bed I realized Dad was home sick too!  Who infected who is still in debate but anyways.  Dad proceeded to allow me to watch my tvoed shows in the living room and have unlimited whining time.  We watched Revenge, a couple episodes of Ravenswood and finished off with Teen Mom 2....HE WAS A TROOPER!

After that it was a four hour power nap and then mom came home with some goodies.  I have been raised on the belief that when your sick you just gotta eat through it ...unless you have the stomach bug in which case ignore that statement.  Thanks to mom we were loaded up with popcicles, jello, caffeine (my medicine of choice) and I even got a happy meal.

Thursday was sick day number 2 for me and dad.  I was feeling slightly better but he looked zombie like still...Love you Dad!  After depleting my tvo stash Dad and I resulted in watching some on-demand show.  We checked out Are You the One?, 90 day Fiance and The Bachelor...I am now addicted to all the above omg! Reality TV lol

Well today I'm back at work, still feeling slugish but better than I was.  After work I plan to sit and stay that way this weekend until I feel 100% because I refuse to miss anymore work!

So that's my newest reason for not blogging.  Please hang in there with me.  Have a wonderful weekend!

And once again thanks to my mom and dad for babying me this week.  Kev doesn't know what he's in for.

I'm Still Here! + Grammy Recap

Hello my dears!
I know it has been a while since my last post but I promise I have no intentions to stop blogging!
The past couple of weeks have been crazy here!  Some bad crazy, some good crazy and some cray cray crazy.  Between wedding planning, our annual work audit and a promotion life has been packed!  This past week Kev and I have really made progress on our wedding planning and I promise to catch back up this week.

Also preventing my blogging has been an error with google blogger.  For some reason I can no longer view it on my main computer.  Crazy Right?!?!?!  Apparently it is a glitch between blogger/Internet Explorer but nothing I try seems to work.  According to all the help screens they are working on it so fingers crossed.

Now to the point of this post.... The Grammys!!!

As much as I hate to say this I was a little disappointed last night.
I adore Beyonce but her opening performance didn't blow my mind!
I miss Crazy In Love Beyonce :-(

Next, was I the only one creeped out by Lorde's seizure like performance?!

I found Taylor Swift's performance to be a shining light in the darkness but truthfully T-Swift could do anything and I would love it!  She was playing my favorite song off her new cd so bonus points for Tay Tay!

I was also concerned with Darth Vador's spawn being there.

All this aside lets talk my favorite topic Fashion!

Best Dressed

Taylor Swift

Chrissy Teigen

 Pink

Cierra

 Miranda Lambert

Worst Dressed

Charleston, SC: Travel Throwback

In case you missed my post a few weeks ago, I have decided to do some travel throwback posts of some of my favorite trips before my blog.  Travel posts are my absolute favorite to read so I couldn't help but share some of my favorite trips and experiences!  The first post in this series was my Vegas 2011 trip.  This post will be a little more low key but still fun filled.

Charleston, October 2012

This was both mine and Kev's first trip to Charleston.  I'm obsessed with trip planning so I was excited to go somewhere with so much history.  Just being honest I am a total tour enthusiast...and there are no shortage of history tours in Charleston.

The night before we arrived in Charleston we stayed at Kev's parents condo in Myrtle Beach.  From there it was only a 1.5 hour drive. Coming down HWY 17 South we crossed this gorgeous bridge.

To start off the day I had booked a tour with Charleston Harbor Tours.  They had several tour options but we decided the best deal was the downtown carriage tour and harbour tour package.

We were able to book tour times ahead so there was no waiting once we arrived at the barn conveniently located off the main street in downtown.

Our tour lasted about an hour and was a total blast!  Our tour guide had so much knowledge of the city and a great sense of humor.  He really gave us a lot of information about different buildings and houses.  This was also a good way to find different things we wanted to come back and look at.

After the carriage ride we had a couple of hours to kill before our boat tour.  We decided to revisit some sites we had seen on tour to get a closer view.
Warning:  Charleston in October can get pretty warm in the afternoon.  Temperatures hit in the high 70's.  I soon lost the cardigan and rolled my jeans into capris.

We had our harbour tour in the afternoon.  Here's a quick shot of our boat.

Kev and I found seats on the top deck and we had an awesome view.  The tour lasted an 1.5 hours and cover a lot of ground...or should I say water. :-)

Here are some of my favorite pics from the tour.

After that we headed back into town for some shopping.  You know I can't go on a trip without shopping!  Kev and I loved the Charleston City Market!  It was full of cute crafts and gifts.  I scored a pretty Christmas ornament from the Historical Society.

Finally we finished off the day at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.  The food was amazing! I would recommend it for sure.

After dinner we drove back to Kev's condo and stayed a few more nights.  We had so much fun in Charleston.  We are hoping to do an extended trip there this year! Fingers crossed!

Wedding Wednesday: Bridesmaids' Dresses

This past weekend three of my four bridesmaids and myself went dress shopping.  We decided to go to David's Bridal beacuse they are really affordable and their dresses come in a wide variety of colors.

We started off with four dresses and after some preliminary try ons we narrowed it down to two.  It was a really tough decision but ultimatily I chose the one that best match with the style of my wedding dress.

Check back next week for a Meet the Bridesmaids post.  These four ladies have been through everything with me and I absolutely adore them!  It's only fair that I share these amazing girls with you guys :-)

Wine and Design

#15 on My 30 for 30 list

I've been dying to take a painting class after seeing several of my instagram friends share pictures of their wine and design creations.  If you are no familiar with Wine and Design allow me to introduce you.  Wine and Design is a painting class that you can sign up for.  To sign up you simply find a painting on their calendar that you would like to do then you register for that dates class.  Simple enough!  Wine and Design is a franchise with new locations popping up all the time.  There are also several similar chains.

I was always amazed when I saw pictures of my friends' masterpieces.  I mean everyone's always looked good,  I couldn't wait to try my hand at painting and to get some new wall décor.

I was so excited when Groupon put up a deal for  one class. Me and my friend Brittany jumped right on it!   Normally it costs $35 but with my Groupon it only cost $19.  This included the supplies!!  Next it was time to pick our painting...We chose the snowy night scene.

The class itself was great.  There was one teacher who somewhat directed us along step by step on which color to use and what order to paint it.  He also help with any issues we had.  3 hours later we had our work was complete and we now have the cutest homemade winter decorations.   I would definitely recommend one of these classes. It was such a fun time!

Wedding Wednesday: Save the Dates

After several weeks off I'm excited to start back with Wedding Wednesday.  This post is a little over due but better late than never.  Today I am excited to show off our Save the Dates.

Disreguard the dotted line :-)

I'll admit the holidays have set me back a little on wedding planning. I should probably be a little stressed out but I'm keeping it calm.

Here's what we have left:

Bridesmaids' Dresses
Wedding Day Photographer
Cake Tasting
Ceremony Flowers (reception centerpieces are done)
Invitations
Ceremony Music

Ok so I have some work to do but I know it will all come together in the end!

The Ultimate Girl Playlist- Part 1

Hola Y'all!
(probably my most unique greeting to date! I like to switch it up!)

Considering it is Monday night and you are reading this I am guessing you survived this bitterly cold Monday.  Burrrrr!  I really don't know if it could get any colder here by North Carolina standards.  Tomorrow morning the temperature is suppose to be 7 degrees with the wind chill at -5.  This is almost uncharted territory down here.  Even the schools  are already on a two hour delay for a cold advisory...no snow...no ice...it's just down right cold!!!  They should really do the same for work, us adult folks don't handle cold well either :-)

Enough of this cold rant though.  Let's get down to offically post business.  A couple of weeks ago my friend Sara and I were talking about all the amazing female artist that we love and some of our favorite girl songs...I'm talking about the songs that you sing into your hair brush in front of the mirror...the songs that make you roll your windows down and turn you radio up....the songs that you can not pass up at girls night karaoke....the songs that make you scream "That's My Jam!!!!"....Ok, so you know what I mean?!

After our talk I made it my mission to dig out some of my old cd's and make the Ultimate Girl Playlist.  While I  decided to limit to the songs I could fit on one cd I feel that I did a pretty good job. I even made some copies for my girls!

This cd has been in my car ever since.  So I'm now thinking that there will be a part two.  I will have to include some I missed like Christina, Katy, JLo and Mariah.

But for now here are the songs that made my first cut!

And I've gotta ask what songs would be on your ultimate girl playlist?

Happy New Year Y'all

Ahhh I cannot believe 2014 is upon us!!!

Happy New Year Darlings!!

What would New Years be without some resolutions.  I'm gonna be honest though...I have never made any real resolutions.  I mean I've thrown out some generic ideas...example:  In 2013 I'm going to eat healthier....  But lets be real everyone says that and probably only .0001% of us actually do it.  This year I'm going to focus on more concrete goals.  So here we go!

{One}  Get Married!!!!!!
Ok this may not really be a resolution but it's pretty much the biggest moment in my life and I'm so excited for May to come.  So I'm going to throw this up here as more of a life event.

{Two}  Visit my grandparents at least once a week
I am so blessed to have all four of my grandparents living so close to me and this year I want to make a point to visit at least once a week.  There are certain things in life that should always be a priority and family is  number first.

{Three}  Find a little more ME time.
With my big girl job it is a lot harder to find time for myself.  It's not that I really need a lot but it would be nice to take some extra time to watch some girly Netflix shows or read some good books.

{Four}  Exercise at least 4 days a week
You know I couldn't escape the cliché fitness resolution.  At least this year I put a number to it.  :-)

{Five}  Travel whenever the opportunity arises
If you couldn't tell already I love to travel!  This year I want to really maximize my vacation days.  I've racked up 4 weeks so the opportunities are endless.  I know Kev and I are doing St. Martin for our honeymoon but we have some other travel dreams as well.  We are definitely looking forward to a few beach weekends with my parents and also dreaming of another fun trip...who knows maybe Disney...possibly Vegas or maybe even a cruise.  The options are endless but rest assure I will find a good deal.

Cheers to 2014

and a special Happy 26th Birthday to my sweet fiancé
