A Christmas/ Weekend Recap

Hello my dears!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a fabulous Christmas last week!  I can't believe NYE is tomorrow and my vacation from work is over.  It has truly been a great 10 day but I am starting to miss my work friends so it will be nice to catch up tomorrow.

I've been meaning to recap my Christmas but I have been busy/lazy the past few days so I decided to group it in with my weekend for a Mega-recap :-)

Kev and I spent Christmas Eve with my family.  Every year my Grandparents on my mom's side have a big gathering with all my aunts and uncles.  It was good to see everyone and catch up.

For Christmas Day lunch my family headed to my Grandparents on my dad's side.  There we had a full Christmas feast!

After that it was off to meet Kev and spend Christmas afternoon with his parents.  I swear they had baked hundreds of Christmas cookies.

In between all the food and family time there was also some present exchanging.  Here are some of my favorites from this year.

I was excited to see that my mom stuffed my stocking full of new makeup to try.  I'm definitely going to have to try all this out and write a review post.  I'm probably most excited for the Benefit Cosmetics kit.

Kev loves to pull out surprises on Christmas.  He really got me this year with these earrings. One day I was Pinteresting (all great stories should start this way) and I ran across earrings that looked like this.  I pointed them out to him and said that these are the type of earrings I wanted to wear on our wedding day.  Of course there was no indication of where to buy them but Kev hunted down some that looked identical.

Also loved these Tori Burch Earrings he got!

And finally one of my favorite gifts was a new Cam Newton jersey.  I assume you all know that the Panthers are officially the number 2 seed in the NFL and will host their first playoff game at home one the 11th.  I'm hoping to score tickets and rock this baby at the game.  If not there, definitely on my sofa!

Thursday my friend Sara and I headed to Charlotte.  She was in from Myrtle Beach and we were in desperate need of a girls day!  We spent the afternoon sipping holiday drinks at the Starbucks on Tyron St and had a lovely dinner at Vapianos.  I was so glad that they still had their decorations up.

That night we had tickets to the Charlotte Comedy Zone to see a few comedians from MTV's Girl Code.  We are both fans of the show and I made sure to get us tickets front and center.  If you've ever been to a comedy show you know they often pick on audience members up front and this was no exception.  2 of the comedians called me out and I loved every minute of it.  Jessimae even told me she loved my southern accent....Made my day!

Friday was a me day until Kev got off work.  I spent much of my time watching way to many hours of Sex in the City....

 and reading my book!

Saturday was equally as lazy minus a trip to the Red Lobster with Kev and Sunday was a day full of football.  Once again Go Panthers...I can't say that enough!

Also I'm excited to be joining in with Lisa from Showered With Design for this weekend recap.

Happy Monday Ladies!

Weekend Shenanigans

Happy Monday Babies!
I hope you all had a magnificant weekend!
My weekend here in NC was the right mix of holiday cheer and relaxation.

Friday evening Kev and I ventured to downtown Greensboro with a purpose!  While I generally wouldn't head to that part of town with the intent of shopping I had heard good things about  a botique in the heart of the city.  The evolution of our downtown area never ceases to amaze me.  Years ago it was crime ridden neighborhooduntil it was revitalized by several investors when I was in high school.  Throughout my UNCG years downtown was a night club haven with an endless supply of college nights.  In the past couple of years we have seen an explosion of hip resturants, theatres and in more recent time cute vintage shops and boutigues.

May I now present to you Design Archives Vintage.
This store is a one stop shop for unique gifts and heaven for anyone who enjoys vintage.

What origionally drew me to the store was their "home." t-shirts. I am a huge fan of supporting my state and local businesses. These shirts have been popping up everywhere I go and the trademark belongs to a woman right here in Greensboro.

I purchased one in a medium shade of blue with a vneck.  I swear it is the softest shirt I have ever owned.

I also picked up a couple of stickers.  I'm thinking about converting them to magnets for the fridge.

Saturday morning/afternoon was consumed with Christms Shopping.  After hitting Target and Old Navy I was pooped!

I did manage to take a minute to get miss Sheeba in the holiday spirit with some reighndeer ears.

Following my Christmas Tradition I made some Pilsberry Christmas Tree Cookies.

Saturday night Kev and I got all fancied up to have dinner with his parents at the Chop House.  This proved to be some of the best food I've had all year.   I feasted on osters rockafella, panko chicken and at the end we all split the famous mile high chocolate cake.  13 layers of chocolate goodness.  The cake itself is nearly a foot high.  This picture doesn't even do it justice.

Hope everyone has a wonderfull week and don't forget to check back here for some exciting posts.

Weekend Shenanigans: Holiday Edition

Happy Monday Babies!
I hope everyone had a wonderful, long Thanksgiving weekend!

My Thursday was spent enjoying great food with my loved ones.  I consider myself so lucky to have all four of my grandparents to share the holiday with.  I had an early lunch with my Grandma and Grandpa Hunt.  My uncle Jason even flew in from Memphis.  After that it was on to Kev's parents where I had a late lunch with them and his aunt and uncle. After that it was time for Thanksgiving dinner at Mamaw and Papaw Gordon's house.  There's always a crowd of 20+ at that one.  Spending time with family and friends always reminds me how truly blessed I am to be constantly surrounded by so much love and support.

After Thanksgiving I was in the Black Friday Spirit.  I hit target that night and on Friday made my way to Belks and Dillards.

Kev had to refuel at Steak and Shake.  He even shared his milkshake with me.

One of my favorite Black Friday Deals was this fur vest I found at Dillards.  Originally it was $150 but with all the discounts I got it for $20.  Score!
Vest: Dillards
Shirt: Target
Jeggings: Belk
Boots:Target

My friend Sara also popped into town for a few days.  She stopped by to visit and we tried out these photobooth props I snagged at Hobby Lobby.

Sunday was relaxing after several days of rushing about.
That night my mom and I finally put up our tree.
Here's the finished product.

I hope everyone has a great cyber Monday!
May the odds be ever in your favor!

Weekend Shenanigans

This past weekend had to be the fastest weekend ever.  I feel like I just left work and poof I'm magically back!  Hands down this has been the coldest weekend we've seen this winter in NC.  It's gonna take me all day to thaw out from m morning commute.  But enough about mother nature giving us the cold shoulder (pun intended) here's a little about my weekend.

Saturday was a big day for me!  My mom and I went looking for wedding dresses for the first time.  Surprisingly this was much easier process than I was expecting.  After trying on 3 dresses I had a winner and I couldn't be more in love with it.  Check back this week for another edition of my Wedding Wednesday for my bridal dress survey!

That night my friend Brittany and I headed to the Greensboro Coliseum for the Florida Georgia Line Concert!  We had a blast singing along to all their songs.  They put on quite a show!  I was also impressed with their opener Tyler Farr!  He was a good performer and a total cutie.

The usual pre-concert photo!

Sunday was a lazy day but I did brave the cold to take my Mamaw grocery shopping in preparation of turkey day.  At 83 she still hosts a big Thanksgiving dinner every year.  We stocked up on pumpkin pie materials, vegetables and of course a big turkey.

That night I caught up on my Tvo...Did you guys see Nashville this week?!  So cray!  I topped off the evening by watching some of the AMAs.  I thought Ariana Grande's performance was amazing.

Happy Monday,

Wisconsin Weekend

This past weekend I headed up to Green Bay, Wi with Kev and his parents.  Kev's dad grew up in the north western part of the state so Kev has always been a giant Green Bay Packer's fan.  He even has a super sized Brett Favre picture over our mantel.  Ever since I've know Kevin his dream has been to see the Packer's play in their home stadium. This also knocks  #9 off my 30 for 30 list.

It was quite the day of travel to get to Green Bay.  We started off by driving to the Charlotte airport.  From there we flew to Chicago and after a short layover made our way to Milwaukee.  There we picked up a rental car and drove the final 2 hours to Green Bay.

Here are some pics from our drive through Milwaukee.  Such a beautiful city!
I would love to explore it more!

If you've never been, Green Bay is definitely a sports town.  Everything in it centers around the Packers!

Even the straws at McDonalds supported the Pack!

And all the cabs showed their Packer pride

On our first night we had dinner at Sidelines Grill.  A restaurant directly across from the stadium.  The food was good and it was neat to see so many Packer's fans.  It was here that I tried my first cheese curd.  They are amazing!

The next morning it was game day and the whole town was ready to go super early.  After a warm breakfast at Denny's we made the drive to the stadium and I faced the true cold of Wisconsin for the first time!  Burrrr!  If you are a southern native like myself it is unlike anything you've ever felt before!

Our seats were on the 3rd row!  I could almost touch Clay Matthews!

Me and the Packer's most memorable fan St. Vince.  I happened to be sitting right behind him!

Even though the Pack lost it was still a neat experience.  Kev had the time of his life and I was so happy to see him so excited.

The next morning it was time to head back to NC.  After seeing some snow we were on our way.  Wisconsin was a beautiful place!  Next time we might visit in the summer though :-)

GO PACK GO!

Weekend Shenanigans

 http://www.samisshenanigans.com/2013/11/its-time-for-weekend-shenanigans.html

Well, it's Monday again! Why do the weekends go by so fast?  If only we could have 3 day weekends every week.  I don't think anyone would complain about a 4 day work week!

Friday night Kev and I had dinner with my parents at Dickey's BBQ.  Dickey's is fairly new to our area but it has quickly become one of my favorites!  On Fridays they have an awesome special where you can get a plate of pulled pork bbq, two sides, hushpuppies, a large souvenir cup and a cone of there famous soft serve ice cream for $9.49.  I don't know about you but anywhere that gives out a reusable cup and free ice cream is ok in my book

Saturday was packed with fun!  I met up with my friend Brittany and we went to the Greensboro
 Coliseum.

We had tickets to see Hunter Hayes that night but during the day they were hosting their annual Holiday Market.  It was jam packed with gift ideas and tasty treats.  Brittany even found the cutest newborn tutu for one of her friends baby showers.

After a couple of hours at the market it was time for the concert!

I found Hunter's tour bus!

The concert was awesome.  Me and Brittany had a blast!  We did have the sad realization that we were the oldest girls there  but hey who doesn't love a young rising country star.

What shenanigans did you get into this weekend?

XOXO Courtney
