Five on Friday

After a little of bit of a hiatus from the series I am happy to be linking up again with all the lovely ladies for 5 on Friday.

{One}  The Mindy Project:  With a lot of the winter shows having their season finales the past couple of weeks I am excited for some of my favorite shows to start back up.  The one show that I am most excited for is The Mindy Project.   It has been a long few months without my weekly dose of Mindy.  I can't wait to pick up where the last episode left off.

{Two}  Dunkin Doughnuts Iced Coffee:  This is more than just something I am currently liking...this is something I am obsessed with.  Strangely enough I had never tried their iced coffee until I swung through their drive through last week.  Since then there has been no looking back. #sorrystarbucks

{Three}  I am very excited that tomorrow I have my first fitting for my wedding dress.  To catch up on any of my Wedding Wednesday posts click here.

{Four}  This week I decided to have a little fun and write a post discussing another one of my favorite shows...Sex and the City.  I thought it turned our pretty interesting.  You can check that out here.
P.S.  No offense towards anyone name Miranda #haha

{Five}  I was looking through some of my high school mixed cds the other night and couldn't help but jam out to some classics.  Enjoy!

Dining Dish: Wolfgang Puck's Pizza Bar

Kev and I love trying new restaurants!  We are total foodies!  As much as I hate to admit it, Kev is the most adventurous when it come to dining in our relationship but I like to think that I hold my on.  Generally our dinners go like this;  I order one thing...Kev orders something else...I instantly realize Kev made the better choice...we end up sharing both our entrees.

Each month Kev and I try to make a point to go to one new restaurant in the area.  We tend to fall in a dining rut if we don't.  Last month we paid our first visit to Wolfgang Puck's Pizza Bar in Greensboro.  If you aren't familiar, Wolfgang Puck is a famous chef from the Food Network who now has a chain of restaurants (I truthfully wouldn't have known this if my future mother-in-law wasn't a huge fan of his) . His restaurants are placed into three categories fine, casual and express.  According to their website the pizza bar falls into the casual category.  We ate at two of Wolfgang's restaurants when we were in Vegas.  One in The Palazzo and one in Aria.  Both were different from his pizza bar but both we really yummy.

We made reservations on Open Table because we heard it was really crowded on weekends.  We were really lucky to be immediately seated because after us a long wait began.  I was very surprised by the atmosphere of the restaurant.  The lighting was very dim and the decor was very classy.  Most of the other diners were pretty dressed up...we will keep this in mind for our next visit as we were in our casual attire :-).

Kev ordered a pizza for one which could have been a pizza for one and a half and I got the ravioli.  As I mentioned before we did a little bit of entree sharing.  Both of our orders were wonderful and the staff was fabulous.  We never once wanted for anything.  The manager also made a point to talk to every table.  That is something that goes a long way in my book.  I would definitely recommend this place if you you are ever in the Greensboro area.  To find a location close to you click here.

No One Wants to Be the Miranda

Let's start this story off several years back.  My friends and I were fresh off the Sex and the City 2 movie hype when over a late night coffee date one of my friends posed the question; Which character would each of us be?  Of course the first thought that ran through my head was, I'm totally a Carrie.  I mean honestly who wouldn't want to be the Carrie...she's FABULOUS!!!  and if not Carrie then maybe I'd even be Charlotte.  I could totally relate to her positive attitude and passion for love.  That's it, I knew my friends would totally see me as a Carrie or Charlotte.

A couple seconds into conversation one of my friends said "Courtney is totally a Miranda." What?!?  A Miranda!!!! And to my surprise my other friends nodded in agreement.

So many things started to run through my mind.....Why am I the worst dressed character?....She was so boring....Is this what my friends think of me?

At the time of this conversation I had only seen the two movies and a handful of the shows so I will admit that I really wasn't in the position to judge the whole character but 19 year old me did not want to be Miranda.

Flash forward to last summer before my NYC trip when my friend gave me her Sex and the City box set.  After endless hours of episodes I can finally say that I have a solid understanding of all the leading ladies and can finally realize that being compared to Miranda is not so bad.

If we're being honest Miranda is pretty amazing.  She is an independent woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to set her goals high.  When it comes to her career she gives 110% and that should be celebrated.   She is extremely dependable and always seems to be the one Carrie looks toward for help.  If these are the traits that we are basing this on I can proudly say that I am a Miranda. Being a powerful woman is a powerful thing that we should never try to hide.

To my fellow Mirandas' lets get out there and rule the world....but who says we can't dress like Carrie while we're doing it!

Happy Friday Eve

Once again it's Thursday which means we are only one day away from yet another wonderful weekend.  Sorry for my lack of posts this week but wedding planning has been making me one busy girl.  With only 71 days to go things are really starting to get down to the wire.  This week Kev and I selected the music for our wedding, almost completed our registry and last night I was "suppose" to have my hair an makeup  trail run but that will be a long story for another day....sadly I am now on the hunt for another glam squad.

Here on the blog front I am also taking some time to figure out exactly what direction I want my blog to go in.  Currently I am looking into a new blog design and brainstorming some new post/series ideas.  One thing I am very passionate about is travel so I am hoping to branch out a little more in that direction.  I love my city and my state so I am hoping to start an informative series about travel and tourism here.  I also am looking at doing some deeper/personal posts discussing my current career and after college decisions.  I am excited to share more with you guys in hopes that this little blog of mine will continue to grow.

With all this said I hope you guys have a wonderful Thursday!  Since I don't have a scheduled post for today I decided to leave you with a link to the Laguna Beach Where Are They Now story on Wetpaint.com.  I really hope that I'm not the only who has been curious about what happened to some of MTV's best reality stars.  Confession I own the seasons 1 and 2 boxsets...No judgement.
Enjoy

Travel Throwback: Savannah 2013

Good morning my dears.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  Since mother nature decided to drop below freezing temperatures on this St. Patrick's Day morning I decided to do a before the blog post that involved some warmer weather.

On Easter weekend last March Kev and I took a weekend trip to Savannah, Ga.  For both of us this was our first trip to the historic city.  We had been to Charleston the fall before and after falling in love with that city we decided Savannah would be another great choice for us.

It took a little over five hours to drive from Greensboro to Savannah but the drive was well worth it.  Since we made it to the city several ours before we could check into the hotel we drove straight into the city to explore.

When we first entered the city we realized Savannah has a totally different feel than that of its neighbor Charleston.  Savannah definitely had a more artsy feel to it and I immediately feel in love with its architecture.

Spring was the perfect time to visit Savannah.  The flowers were in full bloom and the whole city was blanketed in Spanish moss.

There was no shortage of parks in Savannah and all were equipped with beautiful fountains

After a long day of being tourists we checked into our hotel and settled in for the night.

The next morning we woke up bright and early and made the 30 minute drive out to Tybee island.  The drive to Tybee was one of the most beautiful drives I have ever been on.  We drove through miles of gorgeous marsh lands and waterways.  Our final destination was the Tybee Island Lighthouse.  For $8 you can climb the lighthouse and tour the fort across the street.

After some time on Tybee we headed back into downtown Savannah for a carriage ride.  I'm a huge fan of tours.  If you're visiting a city for the first time it's a good way to see a lot of things.

We ended the evening with a ferry ride and dinner on the historic river walk.

We loved Savannah and can't wait to go back.

Wedding Wednesday: Meet the Bridesmaids

Today I am beyond excited to introduce you to my four bridesmaids.  These four ladies have been by my side through everything.  Through thick and thin I know that I can always count on them.  Together we have had so many amazing times and I could never say "I Do" without them next to me.

Meet Ashley
Ashley and I met in 8th Grade and we instantly bonded over our love of shopping and Leamony Snickett books.  She truly has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I've ever met and I have always admired how she puts 100% into everything she does.  Throughout the years we've enjoyed summer days by the pool, Harry Potter movie marathons and so may other great memories. I'm so glad to have her as a bridesmaid.

Meet Brittany
Britt and I grew up attending the same schools but it was actually after graduation when we became besties.  After high school we both attended college in Greensboro where we continually ran into eachother at concerts and college nights and I feel we were destined for friendship.  Now we share a love of country music, good food and pool dates.   She is one of the most dedicated, hardworking people I have every met and I am lucky to have her by my side!

Meet Lauren
Lauren and I first crossed paths in 6th grade.  We became fast friends through our churches youth group.  We have had so much fun throughout our friendship.  From countless movie dates to beach trips in the summer we always seem to be on the same page.  I have always admired Lauren's ability to set goals and exceed them.  I could never say "I do" without this lovely lady there with me.

Meet Sara
Last but not least Sara and I met in third grade.  We are currently on our 15th year of friendship and I would not have it any other way.  We have literally grown up together and I could not be more greatful for that.  Though every heartbreak and amazing moment she has been there.  We have had more memories than I could count.   So I am so thankful she agreed to be a bridesmaid....But really she had no other option.

I love you guys!

Weekend Recap

Hello my dears!
I'm back after a mini hiatus this past week.  Things have been pretty crazy here in NC weather wise.  Last Sunday the weather was a beautiful 70 degrees but on Monday mother nature decided to throw some sleet and freezing rain our way.  This caused work to close early that afternoon and open late Tuesday morning.  After that I really thought mother nature had enough fun but apparently she had other plans.  Thursday night the freezing rain started and it didn't stop until Friday at 11.  I woke up Friday morning to a text saying that work was canceled due to the fact that there was no power.  A few minutes later there was a large crash in the front yard.  Sadly the storm took down our bradford pear tree along with several others across the area.
Around 9 I decided it was time to settle in, watch some tvo and write a 5 on Friday post.  One sentence in we lost power.  I was immediately thrown into nightmarish flashbacks from my middle school days when we had an ice storm and lost power for 8 days.  Luckily by 5 our power was restored but a lot of people around us are still without electricity.  Driving through town today there are still tons of stop lights out and businesses closed.  The projected total restore date in Wednesday so I am extremely thankful to have power today.

After a crazy Friday the rest of the weekend was much more relaxing.  Saturday the temperature reached 65 degrees so all the ice quickly melted away.
Kev and I decided to hit up Bed Bath and Beyond to check out some stuff for our registry.   After seeing that there was a long wait in the store we decided to do it online.  We did jot down some ideas of things we saw in the store.
After that we headed to Downtown Greensboro for a little Cheesecake By Alex date.  The weather was perfect.

We finished off the evening relaxing at the house.  We even broke out the Mario Party on the Wii.  I won...Take that Kev.
Sunday felt short due to the time change but mom and I made a little trip to Target which of course turned into a several hour shopping excursion.  I could spend days in there.  I fell in love with their spring clothes.  I made it out with a dress, a skirt and a bathing suit top.  To say I am excited for warmer weather would be an understatement.

Happy Monday Loves!
