This Wednesday I am extremely excited to be discussing one of my favorite parts of wedding planning so far...The Honeymoon. Kev an I love to travel so when the honeymoon question was brought up we realized that we both had a wide range of ideas. Neither of us has ever been out of the country so we were pretty sure we wanted to go that route but were still open to some US destinations.
Originally I was thinking the Bahamas but then we changed our mind and said Jamaica. From there we moved our way back up to Key West but ultimately changed our minds once again. Next I started looking into the Virgin Islands with a focus on St. Thomas and it was then that I stumbled on St. Martin or Sint Maarten as the Dutch call it. So long story short...
St. Martin it is!!!
St. Martin is located in the Virgin Islands and is only 21 sq miles (7 miles long and 3 miles wide). We decided to go with St. Martin after seeing that it was voted at one of the safest places to honeymoon and there is no denying how beautiful it is!
St. Martin is owned by two countries. The northern half is owned by France and the Southern half belongs to the Netherlands.
Our resort is all inclusive and located on Maho Beach on the Dutch side. Our place also had a sister resort on the French side so we will be able to take a shuttle in between both to use all the amenities.
Only 169 more days!
